The city is located in Harris County and spans over 600 square miles. Houston is located close to the Gulf Coast, around 50 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.
A variety of bayous surround the city, including Buffalo Bayou, which runs through downtown Houston.
The city is situated at the crossroads of Interstate 10 and the Sam Houston Tollway, and it is only a few hours’ drive from numerous other major Texas towns, including Dallas and San Antonio.
Summers in the city are also notoriously hot and humid.
